Time to turn back on the Mommy Magic!
Back to school season is upon us, always a rapid reminder that summer is quickly coming to a close.
School supply shopping, mad dashes to get summer reading and book reports completed and re-registration for fall/winter activities are all in full swing.
As an adult, I still think about this time of year as a restart button, a time to recharge and think of things from a fresher perspective.
As a mom, I encourage Kimaya to reimagine entering a new grade like a new adventure, full of new experiences: New classroom, new classmates, and new lessons to learn.
We’re entering the 4th grade. Which means, we have graduated from Mary Janes to penny loafers. Over summer we also began our orthodontic journey with prep for new braces, which should also be an interesting ride.
Although summer break is roughly only two months, a lot can happen in a short window of time.
The top of a new school year kicks off many activities that generate hectic schedules and require that shimmer of mommy magic to keep everyone organized.
One of my tricks is to set event reminders in my phone calendar, with at least 2–3 days advance alerts. This way I can forecast how to navigate my week.
This also helps me see where I can sneak in a mommy moment for myself along the way.
I plan to ease into this mommy look moment season calmly, and with style and grace (in my big poppa voice) as I am sure there will be many.
I pray for a safe and successful school year, full of excitement and academic challenges.
