August 18th is a very special day, a personal holiday for me, and where it all began…the day my mommy was born.
I know this sounds cliché, but my mom really is The Best Mommy Ever!
She taught me everything I know, right from the beginning… the importance of a loving family, self-care, respecting differences in other’s and personal style.
On weekends, while dad was on the golf course, mom and I were off to the mall, an estate sale, garden or craft store and also tried our hands at new recipes.
B. Smith, Shelia Bridges, Martha Stewart, Barefoot Contessa and Nanny Brooks (our grandmother generationally) were all household names while growing up.
No recipe or craft was ever too big or too small, mom always seized the moment, and many became family traditions.
Even now, she still sends exciting crafts to do and new recipes to prepare, that I now share with my daughter Kimaya to continue those traditions.
My mom has always been my biggest fan and made sure I had every opportunity growing up to expand my horizons.
My first cheerleader, teacher, confidant and best friend.
Always encouraging me to work hard and hone my creativity into limitless opportunities.
Jane Elizabeth Edwards is my very first best friend, who exposed me to my first of many mommy moments. She has instilled in me many priceless values that I hope to pass on to Kimaya.
Today, as I celebrate the launch of Mommy Look, and my mom’s birthday, I want to thank her for always believing in me and pushing me to be my all-time best.
Her endless love, laughs and knowledge is something that I will always lean on for encouragement and guidance.
August, 18th is officially Mommy Look Day!
Love you Ma!
